My Writing Advice

I am often asked for writing advice, and I never really know what to say, as each person has their own process.

The best advice I have for aspiring authors?

Just Keep Writing

Until you get to the end of your story.

A story cannot write itself and you've had a brilliant story idea, so write a word at a time in a sentence that makes perfect sense.

One sentence, at a time.

One paragraph, at a time.

Just keep going.

Get all the words on the page.

Once your story is finished, then you can read through it and see what changes need to be made.

What plot holes need to be filled.

It never really gets easy, but your writing does get better.

Most often than not, my stories have many stops and starts, and walking in circles trying to pull the words from wherever they come from, but it is easier for me to finish a book now than it was the first time I wrote a book more than ten years ago.

There are no shortcuts when writing a story.

You just have to do it.

Until next time.
